The melody of reform is in sync with the presence of opening-up. The book release conference of the Shenzhen Report: Frontier Records of 40 Years of Reform and Opening-up, the Greater Bay Area (Shenzhen) Online Literature Competition, and the launching ceremony of the fifth Shenzhen Literature Season were held at Shenzhen Book Mall on the afternoon of September 20, 2018, as a part of the activities organized by the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the reform and opening-up.

Looking back to 2017, the thematic project of Shenzhen Report: Frontier Records of 40 Years of Reform and Opening-up was launched at the opening ceremony of the 4th Shenzhen Literature Season. It was an important project guided by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China and the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, sponsored by the Publicity Department of Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee, the Creative Liaison Department of China Writers Association, and the People's Literature Publishing House, and organized by the Shenzhen Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and the Shenzhen Writers Association. The successful entry of CIMC Vehicles into the Shenzhen Report marks its official inclusion in Shenzhen's schedule for celebrating the 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up. Under the focus of national media, Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government pooled the best creative forces to write the innovation and entrepreneurship stories of "star enterprises," and depict the "pioneering and adventurous" spirit of Shenzhen. All of these efforts were dedicated to telling stories of China's reform and opening-up in the new era.

Produced by the People's Literature Publishing House, the Shenzhen Report is a gift to the 38th birthday of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and a tribute to the 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up. To create the Shenzhen Report, 10 outstanding writers from across the country visited 10 high-tech enterprises in Shenzhen. The writers, through in-depth interview and elaborate conception, spent nearly one year creating 10 reportage works. In 2018, these reports were compiled and published as the book - Shenzhen Report: Frontier Records of 40 Years of Reform and Opening-up. In the book, the reportage work about CIMC Vehicles - First "Shot" to Spark the Reform and Opening-up vividly presents an innovation story of a Chinese special-purpose vehicle manufacturer going global from a multi-dimensional, narrative perspective. What does "digitalization" mean for CIMC Vehicles? Li Guiping gave the answer in the article: "We have rebuilt the global operation system of semi-trailers. Our shift from lighthouse plants to digital plants is accompanied by pioneering innovation stories and legends."

Chen Jinhai, Executive Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee, said in his speech that scientific and technological innovation is the inner power of urban development and Shenzhen is a modern city characterized by innovation. Shenzhen is proud of a group of outstanding high-tech enterprises, such as Huawei, Tencent, BYD, DJI and CIMC Vehicles for their reform, opening up and independent innovation. They are excellent contributors to the innovation force and pioneering spirit of the city of reform. Meanwhile, they have also provided rich and fresh creative soil for Shenzhen literature. The Shenzhen Report: Frontier Records of 40 Years of Reform and Opening-up is a wonderful reading for us to get a glimpse of the reform and innovation in Shenzhen.

At the ceremony, relevant leaders and guests also presented books to the representative of the 10 enterprises included in the Shenzhen Report: Frontier Records of 40 Years of Reform and Opening-up as well as the cultural education units in the city.
